FAQ
IS THERE A LIMIT TO WHAT WE CAN BUILD?
Answer: It depends on the complexity of the project and whether or not the technology is discoverable.
IS THERE A MINIMUM QUANTITY OF UNITS I MUST ORDER?
Answer: No, we have a one time design/prototyping fee! However, upon successfully producing a fully functional product, it is beneficial to order a higher quantity.
HOW LONG MUST I WAIT FOR FEED BACK?
Answer: Typically 24 to 48 hours. If we're experiencing a high volume of requests and/or complexity with specific requests it may take longer. Customer Satisfaction is our priority, we will follow up with you to reassure you we are working diligently towards your request.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECIEVE MY COMPLETED PROTOTYPE?
Answer: The complexity of the design will determine how long it will take to completion. We will have several discussions regarding your design request, when all of the details have been addressed we can give you an accurate time estimation.
WHAT IS THE TYPICAL EXPENDITURE FOR SERVICE?
Answer: Cost varies depending on the specific request. We have designed circuits for less than $500 USD. Truthfully we need to know what we're working with to provide you with a sufficient answer. There may be specific technical difficulties which can affect the price. Our prices are based on the estimated amount of time it will take to complete, general difficulty involved in creation, and the expense of materials. A project involving a full deign (meaning the design and production of a prototype circuit board and manufacturing setup) can cost around 2,000 - 5,000. Again that is just a rough based estimated projected from previous inquiries. We will produce the most cost effective solution to our clients in appreciation of conducting business with Make Your Own Chip supporting American made products.
DO YOU MAKE CHIPS?
Answer: By chips we mean integrated circuits, which are not entire circuit boards, this is a common misunderstanding. We do not fabricate ICs or work with silicon wafers, but we do program various types of micro controllers. Designing a project around a micro controller allows for easy and cost effective designs simply by changing the software (firmware). Occasionally clients only want a programmed microcontroller and documentation to do it themselves, but more often expect a full solution including a fully assembled PCB circuit board. We offer both.
